I love homes. I love them big, I love them small. I love them cute, I love them ugly. I find everything that goes into building, buying, and selling houses fascinating.
After a wonderful career as an educator in Buncombe County schools, I was very excited to start a second career in my other passion, real estate. I first caught the bug in 2003 when I bought and renovated a small bungalow in Morganton, NC. More recently, my husband, Clint, and I helped build and design our East Asheville home, which was featured as the “Home of the Week” in the Asheville Citizen-Times. My interest in real estate kept building over the years and I continued to gain valuable knowledge and experience. Finally, I was presented with the opportunity to start my own firm and put my unique touch on it.
As my real estate career has evolved I’ve found there are three areas of expertise that make Heart to Home Realty unique:
I have experience in virtually every type of property - I’ve helped people buy and sell starter homes, retirement homes, investment properties, raw land, parceled lots, and even have experience in commercial real estate. All of this has required a tremendous amount of research and I’ve become well-versed in the peculiarities of different towns and counties. Every real estate deal is unique and there is always something new to learn. The more varied and vast your experience has been the better advocate you can be for your client.
2.I have design and renovation experience and expertise - I’ve worked as an interior designer and remodeler for years. This has given me a good eye for what is possible when trying to maximize a property’s value. I’ve led everything from small bathroom remodels all the way up to full house renovations. I can look at a home or property with clients and give them ideas about how and where to add a second bathroom, how much value a kitchen renovation could potentially add to a property, or what might be possible when it comes to adding an accessory dwelling or second home to a property. This is knowledge I can often share on the spot when looking at a property with clients.
3.I have first-hand experience dealing in second homes and investment properties - Not only have I found investment properties for clients and for my own family but I also have experience in managing these properties myself, including two long-term rentals and one short-term vacation rental that I currently manage. This has required extensive knowledge of local ordinances as well as a thorough understanding of the vacation rental market. In short, I know what it takes to efficiently manage an investment property and make it cash flow.
I really enjoy sharing what I’ve learned over the years. My goal is to make Heart to Home Realty as personal and informative as possible. It would be my pleasure to share what I’ve learned over the years and help you achieve your real estate goals.
